Dr. Alicia Rose, University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry

Under the University of Mississippi’s School of Dentistry project, regular dental care is provided at a multi-service AIDS service site, called Crossroads Care Services, which was established by the state health department and the multi-disciplinary HIV care clinic that serves clients enrolled in Mississippi’s Ryan White AIDS Drug Assistance Program. Crossroads is a three chair dental clinic, providing comprehensive dental care, while sharing clinic space with a medical clinic, which makes referrals and communication between providers very easy. Our partners include area community college hygiene program, providing basic services to patients. Referrals are made from area Health Department and Infectious Disease Clinics and social workers. Our Delta AETC coordinates dental training with private and prison-based dentists at Crossroads. The school of dentistry’s hygiene and dental students are trained through rotations at Crossroads, which has improved students’ knowledge and confidence about treating HIV positive individuals. Thank you.
